Urgent Update from Southern California Gas Company
Entire Backfill to Top of Excavation Over Pipelines - Requires Operator Qualification
California General Order 112 has been amended to version General Order 112-F. There are changes made to the General Order (GO) that place additional requirements to contractors performing work to install gas pipelines. The GO changes become effective on Jan 1, 2017 and will require operator qualification for all work performed in the installation of gas pipelines. Operator Qualification is now required for any work performed in the installation of gas pipeline, including the backfilling of trenches and the installation of shade material.
Any applicant which provides a trench for SoCalGas pipe facilities will be required to utilize Operator Qualified (OPQUAL) personnel to perform backfill operations to top of trench.
Please see that attached document which has been prepared to provide notice of these changes. We would appreciate it if you could distribute this to your membership.
Thank you,
